What does Access Life do?
When cancer threatens to take away a beautiful future, it’s a ceaseless fight both for children and their parents. But many parents don’t even know where to begin. That’s where we come in with all the support they need when they visit hospitals in cities unfamiliar to them.
Access Life Assistance Foundation is an Indian not-for-profit organization created to provide Holistic support the children and their parents need.
Access Life is a not-for-profit organization. Our sole aim is to support the children and their families when they come looking for their child’s cancer treatment in various hospitals in various cities.
A loving, temporary accommodation, good, clean hygienic food, available transport for trips to the hospitals are all part of a holistic program. Our support program has many aspects. It is centred on emotional well-being, recreational activities and non-formal educational support.
We are present in 14 centres throughout the country. 10800+ beneficiaries from our holistic care programs.
What kind of support do we give?
Most parents abandon hope and simply give up.
Expenses, unknown cities and doctors, living conditions seem like hurdles to parents. To such an extent that they give up. At times, they even abandon treatment that may actually be working.
Access Life steps in when needed the most. By providing a complete support structure, we help parents get the best treatment for their child. More importantly, we ensure they stay the course.

Accommodation
Months-long treatment and nowhere to stay.
Families travel from remote towns, villages across India seeking treatment for their children affected by cancer. Hospitals advise them on treatment that can take anywhere between 5-24 months, they have nowhere to stay and end up on footpaths.
Access Life offers them a hygienic shelter, coupled with a stress-free environment and good food to eat that gives our brave hearts an upper hand in their fight against cancer. Access Life shelters the lives of more than 2400 individuals every year.
70% to 90% Childhood Cancers are Curable! Children battling cancer, without access to proper accommodation and nutrition, are 5 times more likely not to survive due to secondary infections, chemotherapy intolerance and treatment abandonment.

Transportation
Trips to the hospital can seem endless.
We take that stress away.
Public transport exposes these little souls to infection and hampers their immunity. Multiple trips every week are often needed during the treatment. Access Life has 4 donated vehicles that facilitate the trips for chemotherapy, surgery, follow-ups for the entire length of the treatment.

Nutrition
A proper nutrition plan can help
chase cancer away.
Good nutrition, especially in cancer treatment can be a game changer. The illness depletes appetite and nutritional status. Children need good, wholesome food, cooked hygienically, full of nutrients. We provide food grains and supplements required to maintain their nutrition during treatment. At our centres, we promote community cooking with all the facilities needed.

Emotional and psychological support
Cancer wreaks havoc on the body and mind.
On children and parents.
It is very hard for children and their parents to come to terms with what’s happening. Parents can spiral into depression and children are often stressed when they see they will miss school and not meet their friends for a long time.
Accesslife has support programs that help deal with this distress. We keep children engaged with educational sessions so they don’t miss out on the learning years. Teaching parents new skills that they can employ when they return to their hometowns is something we stress upon.
Recreational activities like yoga, nutrition, storytelling, craft combined with counselling sessions are conducted across our centres.

Non- Formal Educational support for children
Children can often feel that cancer is something that will take away everything that they love. Learning, schooling, friends, activities. Our teachers not only assess their levels but teach them maths, languages, environmental science. The children get involved with art and craft projects. We help create an environment that keeps the progress going.
